Biography
Cameron is a specialist in construction law including aspects of construction and engineering law, litigation and alternative dispute resolution. His knowledge and passion for contract data, especially on NEC, FIDIC, JBCC, and GCC, sees him training construction professionals, from beginners to experienced users. He advises clients on any issues relating to the use of standard form construction contracts and he also has experience in the drafting of bespoke contracts as and when they are needed, and regularly counsels on how to manage and administer the contracts.
Cameron holds a Bachelor of Law degree as well as a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Rhodes University and in 2008 he was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa. In addition to this, in 2015 Cameron successfully completed the Construction Adjudication Law programme run at the University of Pretoria. He has also successfully completed the Association of Arbitrators (Southern Africa) NPC Fellowship Admission Course and is a Fellow member of the Association and eligible for nomination or appointment as arbitrator and/or adjudicator.
He has worked on significant projects in which he has assisted with the commercial management of the project on a day-to-day basis as well as providing legal advice and dispute avoidance resolution via adjudication and arbitration.
Cameron has also advised on front-end negotiation and drafting of commercial terms and contract data and has extensive experience in the following contracts:
• NEC3 and NEC4,
• The FIDIC Suite 1999 and 2017
• JBCC; and
• GCC 2010 and 2015.
Cameron has been recognised for his expertise in Construction Best Lawyers® for 2021, 2022 and 2023.
