Biography

Mandy Hattingh is a Director and Head of Energy at NSDV Law, specialising in energy regulation, environmental compliance, and natural resources law. She advises on the regulatory frameworks underpinning power-intensive infrastructure, with a particular focus on grid access, permitting, and land use.

Mandy has extensive experience across South Africa’s independent power producer procurement programmes, as well as private and cross-border energy projects across Africa. Her work includes regulatory due diligence, environmental legal opinions, and advising on the environmental and regulatory aspects of project agreements.

In the data centre sector, Mandy focuses on the legal and regulatory challenges of securing reliable power supply, including licensing, grid capacity constraints, wheeling, and embedded generation. She brings a practical perspective on enabling energy-intensive digital infrastructure while supporting sustainability and investment objectives.
